Library staff may refuse service or building access to anyone who willfully violates Library behavior or security policies, county, state or federal laws, or college regulations such as the Mission College Code of Student Conduct.
Except for an immediate threat to life, property, safety or the well-being of individuals, staff may choose to initially provide a verbal warning to persons, advising them of relevant policy, rules and laws so as to fulfill campus due process procedures.
Failure to obey campus and library policies can lead to either suspension ranging from 24-hours to two weeks, or criminal proceedings according to the Campus Code of Conduct. Library staff may summon Campus Police for any failure to obey policies, and are required to do so when there is an immediate threat to life, property, safety or the well being of individuals.
When Campus Police are summoned, Library staff will advise the Library Director or the Director's designee as soon as possible. A Mission College Library Incident Report Form must be promptly completed and forwarded to the Library Director for all incidents requiring the assistance of Campus Police.
Library staff will exercise good judgment to determine the applicability of this policy.
The Library will treat all persons equally and professionally with regard to refusal of access, service or police summon.
