The Library has six study rooms for group study. Group study is defined as two or more Mission College students simultaneously using the room for discussion/tutoring/group projects directly related to course curriculumin an interactive manner. Study rooms are not available for Community Users or visitors.
Library study rooms are numbered Rooms 242-247. Disabled students, whether an individual or in groups of two or more persons, have priority for use of Room 244. In the event two disabled persons, or two groups with a disabled person, desire use of Room 244, disabled persons registered with the Disability Instructional Support Center will have priority over other disabled persons. Rooms 242, 243, 244 are smaller Study Rooms accommodating up to three persons. Rooms 245, 246 and 247 have large study tables and can accommodate up to six persons.
Study rooms are available on a first-come, first served basis. No room holds or reservations can be made.
Library users may not clear Study Rooms or interrupt persons using those rooms. Library users may report suspected room use violations to the Check Out Desk.
Study Room doors should be closed when in use.
Library equipment (except circulating headphones and circulating tape players) shall not be removed from any study room, nor moved into any study room, without Library staff authorization. All equipment problems should be reported to the Check Out Desk. Each study room should contain equipment as follows:
Room 242: Study Room 1. Equipment by request. Built-in desk; 3 chairs.
Room 243: Study Room 2. Equipment by request. Built-in desk; 3 chairs.
Room 244: Study Room 3. Disabled students, whether an individual or in a group of two or more students, have priority for use of Room 244.
This room displays a wheelchair symbol near the door and includes:
· 39” high counter to accommodate wheelchairs.
· Restricted access computer with 21” monitor for easier viewing. This computer is reserved for the exclusive use of disabled library users. Library staff will login on behalf of a disabled user. Library staff will not disclose login information to other library users. Rare exceptions to restrictions regarding use of this computer can be made by the librarian on duty or Library Director, only.
· Dragon Naturally Speaking software for voice navigation and control.
· VCR (can be used with or without headphones if necessary to
accommodate hearing aids). Note: Request VCR remote for closed captioning at Check Out Desk.
