Billing Statements

Page history last edited by Tim Karas 2 yrs ago
Long-overdue library materials are billed at replacement cost 7 days after the due date. In addition, billing statements include a $5 billing fee and a $10 processing fee.

A $5 billing fee and $10 processing fee are assessed for each item listed on each billing statement issued. This fee must always be paid in full whether or not items are returned after 21 days. Failure to pay the $5 billing fee and $10 processing fee per item will result in student college records being frozen. Students will be unable to register for classes or receive grades or transcripts until all billing and processing fees are paid in full.

1.      Students are billed for materials replacement, billing and processing fees when long-overdue materials status changes to missing status.
2.      Accounts in arrears more than 30 days will cause the freezing of their student College records. Students will be unable to register for classes or receive grades or transcripts.
3.      The following minimum replacement costs will be charged:
·        Books, cassettes, videos and CDs: $25.00 per item minimum plus $5 billing fee plus $5.00 processing fee for each item lost or damaged.
·        Pamphlets: $5.00 billing fee plus $10 processing fee per item minimum, plus per-pamphlet replacement fee, or $15 total, whichever is minimum.
·        Periodicals: $10.00 per item minimum, plus $5.00 billing fee plus $10.00 processing fee per issue or part of an issue.
·        Telecourses: $25.00 security deposit will be forfeit and a $10 per tape/DVD will be assessed

Billing statements will include materials replacement costs plus a $5 billing fee plus a $10 processing fee for each item long-overdue.   Long-overdue status is applied to each item as follows:

1. 3-Week Loan:   Billing statements are issued once when items are 21 or more days overdue.

2. Reserve Materials (In-Library Use Only Loans): During Academic Year 2002-2003, In-Library Use Only loans are due 1 hour after checkout. No billing statements are issued for late returns.

3. Media Reference Loans (faculty only): After 28 days overdue, Library staff will refer long-overdue items to the Library Director for next action.

4. Telecourse Rentals: Billing statements are issued once when items are 21 or more days overdue.

Billing statements are only issued once.

Borrowers are responsible for the payment in full of all fees reflected on billing statements unless related items are returned in good condition, in which case the $5 billing fee and $10 processing fee for each late-returned item must be paid.
